Missy Elliot's logo upsets Queen of Denmark

By Out-Law.com News:

Hip hop superstar Missy Elliot has offended Queen Margrethe II of Denmark because the logo of her new Respect ME clothing range is too similar to the Danish royal family's monogram, according to reports.

The clothing line, launched in Europe last November, is a collaboration between Missy Elliot and Adidas. But the line's logo - showing a crown behind the words Respect ME - provoked an instant reaction from the Danish monarchy.

According to an MTV report, the royal family threatened court action unless the range of sport-inspired street wear was withdrawn from Danish shops.

"In Denmark, the royal family 'owns' the rights to any shape or form of crown, and you're not allowed to put the crown on anything in Denmark, and we were unaware of that," Adidas spokesperson Abby Guyer told MTV. Adidas has complied with the order, but the clothing line is still available elsewhere in Europe.
